Inrush Current Limiter
The inrush current indicates the maximum input current consumed when a load is switched on. Since this is generally higher than the nominal current (e.g., due to the initial charging of installed capacitors), circuit breakers can be triggered unintentionally if appropriate countermeasures are not in place. This reduces the reliability of the entire electrical circuit. Inrush current limiters prevent this. For LED power supplies, a so-called inrush current limiter (transformer switching relay) is suitable, which is installed between the circuit breaker and the LED power supply(s). In addition to preventing unwanted interruptions, installing an ICL also allows for the operation of a higher number of LED power supplies on existing circuit breakers. This results in immediate savings. In addition to its own brand, PICL, ProConnecting carries inrush current limiters from the renowned manufacturer MEAN WELL. The inrush current limiters are available in both DIN rail (TS-35/7.5 and TS-35/15) and linear designs. PICL and MEAN WELL inrush current limiters are available for a nominal current of 16A and 28A.
