0-10V / 1-10V / PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) lighting control systems are a cheap and reliable option for relaying dimming commands from input devices to LED power supplies. Slight variations in their technical details and functionality separate the dimming methods. 0-10V and 1-10V are both analog techniques. The desired dimming level is transmitted by varying the voltage applied to the control wires. The 0-10V control allows the complete dimming of the LEDs without phase separation. However, the LED power supply still consumes power in standby mode (max. 0.5W). 1-10V supports dimming only in a brightness range between ~ 6-10% to 100%, a separate switch is required to fully turn off the LED driver and the connected luminaires. PWM is a digital technique. The selected brightness level is encoded by switching the signal on and off with a high frequency.
