In simple installations, low-voltage dimming methods 0-10V / 1-10V and PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) excel thanks to their low complexity and high cost-efficiency. Two basic modes of operation are distinguished: Analog low-voltage (0-10V / 1-10V) and digital low-voltage (PWM) control. While they share the same transmission medium – a two-core control cable – their transmission technique differs. Analog low voltage dimming methods encode the light intensity in the applied voltage. While 0-10 V control enables the LEDs to be completely dimmed-out, 1-10V control requires a separate switch to sever the LED driver’s mains connection to do so. In contrast, the digital PWM control method (not to be confused with the PWM dimming method for the regulation of LED brightness by the LED driver) switches the signal on and off to encode the brightness level. 3-in-1 Mean Well Constant Current LED Drivers support both analog and digital control methods, as well as brightness-setting via resistor. MeanWell’s 3-in-1 CC LED Power Supplies come in capacities from 15W to 1000W and supply output currents from 350mA to 11,200mA.
