Inrush
The inrush current specifies the maximum current a device draws when it is first switched on. Since the inrush current usually exceeds the load’s rated current (e.g. due to a charge-up of built-in capacitors), without appropriate countermeasures circuit breakers and fuses may be triggered unintentionally. A reduced reliability of affected electrical circuits follows. Inrush Current Limiters prevent these issues effectively. To protect circuits from LED luminaires’ inrush currents, the inrush current limiter is installed between the circuit breaker and the LED Driver. In addition to obviating unwanted supply interruptions, ICLs also enable the operations of a higher number of LED Power Supplies on existing circuit breakers, thus reducing cost. ProConnecting offers Inrush Current Limiters under its private PICL brand and stocks additional devices from Mean Well, an expert in power supply hardware. Models with linear or DIN Rail (TS-35/7.5 and TS-35/15) designs blend in perfectly with the rest of your electrical installation. PICL and MeanWell inrush current limiters are available for a rated current of 16A or 28A.
